Set the device to open automatically
You can keep your Android phone or tablet unlocked in some situations, such as when your phone is in your pocket or you're around the house. If you use Smart Lock, you do not need to unlock it with a PIN, pattern, or password. The features that can be used depend on your device.

Note: Android is not the same on all devices. These instructions are for devices running Android 8.0 and later. Learn how to check Android version.
Enable auto-unlock
Make sure you have a screen lock. Learn how to set a screen lock.
On your device, open the Settings Settings App.
Tap Security & Smart Lock next location.
Enter a PIN, pattern, or password.
Select an option and follow the steps on the screen.
After setting up, when you turn on the screen, you'll see a flickering circle at the bottom of your Lock Key.
Important: If your device has not been used for 4 hours, and after restarting you need to unlock it.
Disable auto-unlock
On your device, open the Settings Settings App.
Tap Security & Smart Lock next location.
Enter a PIN, pattern, or password.
Disable Detection on the body and remove all trusted devices, trusted places, trusted faces, and sound from Sound Match.

Learn about locking options
Keep your device unlocked when you carry it
You can keep your device unlocked when you hold it in your hand, carry it in your pocket or purse.
Enable or disable the detection feature on the body
In the Smart Lock menu, tap Detection on the body.

Using the detection feature on the body
Once unlocked, the device will remain unlocked as long as it is close to your body. After you have placed the device, for example, if you put it on the table, it may take up to 1 minute for the device to lock automatically.
On some devices, the body's detection features learn about your walking patterns. If the accelerometer detects a very different walking pattern, the phone will be locked. If your phone is locked after walking, unlock your phone and your phone will adapt to new changes as you walk.
Once you get into a car, bus, train, or other vehicle, the device can take 5-10 minutes to lock.
Important: When you're on a plane or boat, the device may not be able to be locked automatically. Be sure to lock it manually if needed. Learn how.
Notes :: Your device stores accelerometer data on walking patterns to help identify the conditions you are carrying. If you disable detection on the body, the device will delete this data.
The device lock will remain open if it's in a trusted place.
Use a trusted place
The place is trusted to function optimally with Wi-Fi.
Allow the phone to use its current location. Learn how to enable location.
Enable battery-saving location mode and high accuracy. Learn how to change the location mode.
Important: A trusted location is an unlimited physical estimate.
A trusted location can cross the physical boundary of a house or a custom place. This can keep your device unlocked within a radius of up to 80 meters.
Location signals can be copied or manipulated. Someone who has access to special equipment can unlock your device.Add, delete, or edit home locations
This action updates your home location across Google services. Learn more about your home address on Google Maps.
Add a home location
In the Smart Lock menu, tap Place is trusted.
Tap House.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Delete home location
In the Smart Lock menu, tap Place is trusted.
Tap House.
Choose the type of deletion:
To disable the home as a trusted location, tap Disable this location.
To delete a home address on Google, tap Edit next Delivery Trash Delete next.
Editing home location
In the Smart Lock menu, tap Place is trusted.
Tap home location.
Tap Edit your next map or home address.
Enter the address you want to use as a home.
Tip: If the house consists of multiple buildings at the same address, the desired place of trust may differ from the address. To get better location accuracy, you can add the actual home location within the building complex. See how to add a custom place (below).
Adding, deleting, or editing a custom place
You can add a location to a custom trusted place.
Added a custom place
In the Smart Lock menu, tap Place is trusted.
Tap Add a trusted place. The map will open for your current location.
To use your current location, tap Select this next location Select.
To choose a different location, tap Browse Search.
Name the trusted location (such as "Office"). Tap Okay.
Edit or delete custom places
In the Smart Lock menu, tap Place is trusted.
From the list of trusted Smart Lock options, select the place.
Choose an edit type:
Delete
Change name
Edit Address
Add or remove a trusted device
You can keep your phone unlocked whenever it's connected to a trusted device, such as a car speaker system or a Bluetooth watch.
We recommend avoiding devices that are always near the phone, such as casing or Bluetooth keyboard.
Add a Bluetooth device
On the device, make sure Bluetooth is on. Learn how to turn on Bluetooth.
In the Smart Lock menu, tap Device is trusted.
Tap Add trusted device.
In the device list, tap a device.
Optional: To delete a Bluetooth device, tap the device you want to delete. Then, tap Okay.
Note: With some devices, you need to unlock the phone before it becomes always open.
Make sure you are in a safe position when using a Bluetooth device is trusted
It's possible someone can keep your phone unlocked by mimicking your Bluetooth connection.
If you get notifications on your phone: If your device can not determine that you are using a secure connection, you will receive a notification. You may need to unlock the phone.
The range of bluetooth connectivity may vary. The range depends on several factors, such as device model, Bluetooth device, and current environmental conditions. Bluetooth connectivity can reach up to 100 meters. If someone picks up your phone when it's near a trusted device, and if the device is trusted to unlock it, that person can access your phone.
Setting up, perfecting, or removing a face is believable
The device can unlock when it recognizes your face. After you set a trusted face, each time the device is switched on, the device will search for your face and unlock it if the device recognizes your face.
Important: This face recognition is less secure than PIN, pattern, or password. Someone who looks similar to you can unlock the phone.Setting up and using a face is believable
In the Smart Lock menu, Face tap is trusted.
Tap Prepare and light the instructions on the screen.
If the device is looking for your face, you will see a trusty face icon trusted face. If the device does not recognize your face, you can unlock your device with a PIN, pattern, or password.
Improve face recognition of the device
In the Smart Lock menu, Face tap is trusted.
Tap Improve face matching.
Tap Next and follow the steps on the screen.
Removing face is believable
In the Smart Lock menu, Face tap is trusted.
Tap Remove face trusted.
When asked if you want to remove a trusted face, tap Delete.
Note: Smart Lock does not store your photos. The data used to recognize your face is only stored on your device. The app can not view or use the data, and is not backed up on Google servers.
Using Voice Match ("Ok Google")
If you say "Ok Google" from a secure lock screen and we can recognize the voice, you can ask Google to do things for you, or visit the site without having to manually unlock the device.
